Haudenosaunee Women's Influence on the Women's Rights Movement
This event features Indigenous women leaders and non-Native feminist activists highlighting the story of how the Haudenosaunee Confederacy served as the inspiration for early feminists. Speakers include the influential feminist author and activist Gloria Steinem. A fundraiser for the American Indian Law Alliance and the Matilda Joslyn Gage Foundation, the event launches the Gage Foundation’s “Matilda Effect Project”, writing women who have worked for peace and social justice back into history. To kick of the suffrage centennial auto tour, we will begin with hearing from Susan B. Anthony and the Clinton County 5 at Clinton County Historical Association in Plattsburgh, NY. Vintage cars, carrying suffragist re-enactors, will motor to The Pavilion at Ausable Chasm to hear Ida B. Day 2 of the Champlain Valley Suffrage Centennial Auto Tour begins at the First Congregational Church in Lewis, NY, where there will be a ceremony at the grave of Inez Milholland. In the afternoon there will be a presentation of Forward Into Light Re-imagined: A Suffrage Centennial Pageant at Ballard Park, Westport, NY.

Day 3: Champlain Valley Suffrage Centennial Auto Tour
Join us for a Broom Brigade and Suffrage Sing-Along at the Schroon Lake Bandstand in Schroon Lake, NY. Then follow vintage motorcars carrying suffrage re-enactors to the Ticonderoga Historical Society for a Broom Brigade and ice cream social.

Join us in Vergennes, VT to hear Philomena Daniels re-enacted on board the schooner Lois McClure. Then follow vintage autos carrying suffrage re-enactors to Chimney Point Historic Site for special activities and join the Suffrage Walk across Lake Champlain Bridge to the Crown Point Historic Site, Crown Point, NY to finish off the day.
